Sierra loves science, teaching, and food. As a graduate of UC Berkeley, Sierra found the intersection of these three passions while double majoring in Integrative Biology and Conservation and Resource Studies. While there, her coursework covered varying topics such as human anatomy, agroecology, history of vertebrates, and organic gardening. She worked at a student run produce stand that made local organic produce accessible to the sleep deprived students of UC Berkeley. During her time there, she tutored 4th and 5th grade students at an elementary school. In addition to her classes, Sierra worked as a field biologist in Northern California, Tahiti, and the mosquito-ridden mangroves of Panama. Most recently, Sierra was a Naturalist at San Mateo Outdoor Education. There she discovered her love of experiential education while leading students on hikes, sharing science, kissing banana slugs, and marveling at the hilarity of kids. She is excited to begin working with Education Outside and cannot wait to share the wonders of science, gardening, and food with her students.
